From Star Wars to Star Trek we all have enjoyed episodes on how the magic is made. Behind the scenes TV shows and programs have become a fashionable way of entertaining the consumer and the novice professional interested in a little bit of food for thought on the state of the art technical prowess of industry leaders.
As our editor in chief Miguel Gomez sets the editorial direction of the magazine but he still answers to me in the overall strategy and direction of the marketing programming.
So when he asked me to do this segment, being an avid FX fan and movies buff on big budget Hollywood features, all I could say to him is “Yes Boss” because in fact he is the boss and West Coast Midnight Run is his baby and passion. He loves working himself to extinction on this project,
So much so we have to remind him to take it easy every now and then. There is life outside of West Coast Midnight Run but I take advantage of him since his work ethic is unquestionable and unquenchable.
I need to tell you I grew up reading Starlog magazine and a big nod and thank you to a bygone publication long before we invented MTV, YouTube and B-rolls from electronic press kits or web-based press conferences, Starlog was entertaining and delighting both college students, fans and home-made FX filmmakers. I also have in my library a rotting stack of Petersen’s Photographic magazine, a monthly that dedicated its content to exploring techniques in photography,
