The new Nikon cameras include a large selection of digital SLR units, slim pocket-sized power packers and traditional shutter and film cameras for the pros. The latest in film cameras is the F6, a 35 mm SLR body that is a top choice for professionals worldwide and has been in production, with several design make-
overs, since 2004. This unit is compatible with any F-mount Nikon lens equipped with metering sensors.
The F6 has a mile long list of features, and is designed to outperform the most powerful DSLRs on the market in the hands of serious pros, most notable amongst
them is shutter speed up to 1/8,000th of a second, the viewfinder has 37 segment vertical metering scale, film speed manual and DX up to ISO 25-5000, focus tracking and lock with single servo action, continuous servo or manual, 11 autofocus modes of selection.
Almost all of the features of the F5 are included with the F6 along with some from the highly popular D2 Digital SLR and rest assured there are many performance
tweaks and improvements on the F5. The F6’s MSRP is around $2,800, body unit only, lenses not included.
Pentax’ recent acquisition by Ricoh has not hindered the group from offering the consummate professional and consumer a tremendous lineup of DSLRs, compact digital cameras and medium format digital units.
The new 645D medium format (40 MP) camera has an MSRP of nearly $10,000 and with James Malcolm as the new EVP, Pentax has also introduced a new line
of K-5 II DSLR models (16.3 MP) in September along with new exclusive HD coating technology that reduces error and promises superior digital photography.
The K-5 II offers shutter speeds up to 1/8,000th of a second and 11 autofocus zones, in direct competition with the Nikon F-6. The new K-5 is exactly the same
as the old K-5 which received wide acclaim and praise for its quality and ease of use as well as powerful features.
Pentax changed only one thing in the new K-5, it fixed the only big problem the old K-5 had, average autofocus performance in low light conditions. So the new
K-5 bristles with power and performance in addition to being available at a very competitive price, the MSRP is around $1,199 and that is for the camera body only.
