The Samsung 9 series is designed to be in competition with the Vaio Z and Apple MacBook Air. This series represents top computing power in a very slim design, ay just 0.58 inches thin. This machine has an i7 chip with four threads and is part of the latest duo core series, codenamed Ivy Bridge by Intel.

The series 9 has 8 GB of DDR3 RAM memory, and a standard 256 GB SSD, 15 inch LED HD screen, backlit keyboard, bluetooth 4.0, 1.3 MP webcam, three USB ports, stereo speakers, HDMI port, an Intel HD 4000 card, several additional features and weighs only 3.63 lbs.

MSRP starts from around $1,799.

At Samsung the current pitch is “Faster is Better” with the series 7 laptop.

This machine is designed for gamers, but only the top of the line series has an Intel i7 quad core along with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M card, 16 GB of DDR3 RAM and 1.5TB harddrive, a Blu-Ray optical drive, 2.0 MP webcam, 17.3” screen, four USB ports and 7-in-1 multicard slot (SD/xD/MMC/etc.). Additional features are the same the series 9

The low end models are offered with a duo core i5 processor, 6 GB of RAM (max. cap. is 8 GB), 750 GB SATA drive, 14” screen, bluetooth, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M card.

The Series 7 weighs in from 4.56 lbs
to 8.39 lbs and MSRP starts from around $1,000 and well into $1,900.

As of February 2012 Consumer Reports (Carol Mangis) had previewed the series 9 and gave it a solid review, however the machine in question only had an i5 core and the current series 9 is a slightly different and a little more powerful system being offered to the consumer.
