The latest in Android Symbian and Mobile Tablets from West Coast Midnight Run. The Consumer Electronics Association has endorsed the projected growth of the US market at about five percent this year and next, topping $200 billion for the first time ever in industry sales.

Rumors have it that the Blackberry smartphone can do anything except get you a girlfriend or boyfriend.

The RIM company has been making the BlackBerry since 1999 and the buzz has it the name BlackBerry was coined because the keyboard looks like the druplets of the fruit.

We think the keyboard looks a lot like the 1990’s HP scientific programmable calculators but that could be just us. The same type of keyboard is used in the Samsung Corby TXT phones.

The BlackBerry uses its own OS that allows encryption of chat messages, voice and images and a new OS will be released in early 2013.

In September of 2012, a

conference in San Jose revealed top application developers such as Cisco, Gameloft and Mad Fingers Games were busy creating stunning builds for the new OS, the BlackBerry 10.

The 9300 pictured above, is a Mid-range device with 3G speed, can handle voice and data over Wi-Fi concurrently and has a GPS system onboard.

The 9300 Curve series is equipped with stereo sound, 2.0 MP camera, and convenient (dedicated) web and media browsing hotkeys right below the screen.

The 9300 series also has Bluetooth connectivity and micro USB ports. The more recent entries include the

9380 which uses the BlackBerry 7.0 OS and has 512 MB of RAM and 512 MB of storage, and an additional slot for an SD card for 32 GB of extra memory.

The camera on the 9380 is 5.0 MP.

The retail price for this series varies from as low as $249.99 for the 9380 and upwards of $399.99. The 9350 series can be had from prices ranging from $199.99 to $319.99. Deals and heavily discounted units are available from online retailers - and eBay if you can risk a used unit.

The encryption feature on the BlackBerry is great if you are on the go and need to relay sensitive information as text (barring a pdf attachment). Many web email services and ISPs nowadays offer encrypted email for a small premium and you can send from your local cafe using your laptop.
